GAME DAY RECAP: February 2, 2025

King Heights Academy (4) vs King’s Edgehill School (3) East U18

King’s Edgehill School got off to a miraculous start after potting two goals in the opening two minutes courtesy of Riko Salutskij and Alex Doyle. However, King Height’s would not lose faith, scoring three unanswered to close off the first. Sam Cockburn’s first of the season was the go ahead goal with a mere 9-seconds left in the frame. DJ Chan would continue to inflict King Height’s wrath with an early goal in the second, giving them a two goal lead. Carter Cooling would get one back for King’s Edgehill soon after. In the third, King’s Edgehill would throw 10-shots on net but the steady play of Jackson Taraborrelli (24/27) kept King Height’s lead intact. Chan’s goal would serve to be the game winner after the scoreless third.

Ontario Hockey Academy (4) vs Lower Canada College (5) East U17

K’den Womack’s third of the season propelled OHA into an early lead but LCC’s William Lynam (2G) and Elliot Patterson would score 1:19 apart to give them their first lead of the match. Lynam would add another to LCC’s lead in the second with Matthew D’Urso (2G) supplying a fourth a couple minutes later. D’Urso would add a second to spark the third, capping off five unanswered goals for LCC. However, a late push from OHA which saw two powerplay goals swung the momentum into their favour. Teo Lamarche (2G, 1A) would cut OHA’s deficit to one with 10-seconds left, but that was all the story wrote for OHA. LCC would hang on for a 5-4 victory.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (2) U17

Peyton May opened the scoring for Delta, nabbing goals in consecutive games over PCHA. Kyle Rushton would later tie things up for PCHA. Teams would trade goals once more in the second, leaving the result wide open for the third. Just 57-seconds into the final frame, PCHA’s Nolan Ganter (1G, 1A) got the go ahead goal. Delta would control the flow of the game the rest of the way, outshooting the Sea Devils 23-7. However, Elliot Horner (39/41) would turn aside all 23-shots to secure the victory. Owen Bate and Collin Lee (1G, 1A) would add two later insurance markers to ensure the W.

Yale Hockey Academy (6) vs Shawnigan Lake School (0) U17 Prep

After being suspended yesterday due to ice damage, Yale Hockey Academy comfortably strolled to victory. Seth Castronuovo (3G, 1A) secured his third hat-trick of the year while Jason Ho (14/14) made a tame 14-saves for his first shutout of the season.Ìý

OHA Edmonton (8) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep

After trading goals 9-seconds apart to open the game, Prince George Cougars prospect Keenan Fox (1G, 2A) scored with 6-seconds left in the frame to give OHA Edmonton the lead before the intermission. Gavin Noseworthy would make things even again with an early goal in the second but a quick pair of goals from Jaggar John (1G, 1A) and Kai Richards (1G, 1A) restored OHA Edmonton’s advantage. OHA Edmonton would continue to pour on the offence in the third, outscoring Pilot Mound 4-1 in the final twenty minutes of play. Rylan Moss (4A) would end the game with four helpers while Aidan Prosser (35/38) made 35-stops.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U15

Josh Harvey (2G) would open the scoring a mere 35-seconds into play for RHA Winnipeg but was met with an immediate response from NAX’s Keatyn Devlin (2G). Devlin’s goal would spark a chain of four unanswered goals from NAX to close out the period. Jett Evans (2G) would supply the two lone goals in the second, further extending NAX’s lead to 6-1. RHA Winnipeg would garner three goals in the final frame, but the deficit was too far to overcome in the late stages of the match.Ìý

Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U15 Prep

Gage Mark (1G, 2A) and Talon Scinocca (1G, 2A) continue their hot streaks, each racking up three points in a commanding 6-1 win over North Shore. Dreyden Rayburn (2G) found the scoresheet twice while Brayden Unruh (27/28) provided 27-saves. Edward Kemp scored the lone goal on a powerplay for the Warriors while Elias Mitrikas (42/48) posted a 40+ save performance in the loss.

Notre Dame (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) U15 Prep

Notre Dame would hold off the potent offence of NAX through the opening forty minutes, holding them to a 3-1 lead despite being outshot a staggering 39-9. NAX would break through in the third after Will Kelts (2G, 1A) scored two goals to open the frame. A quick pair of goals from Notre Dame’s Jack Carter and Matthew Boekleder would reignite their chances at extending this contest but an Emmett Abel empty netter sealed the win for NAX. Ben Meyer (52/58) would make a formidable 52-saves in the loss.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs BWC Academy (4/SO) U17

Auckland, NZ born defender Lucas McMillan nabbed his first of the season to grant BWC Academy the initial lead. Saiva Brar would manage to tie things up later in the frame while Ollie Halowaty gave OHA their first lead of the game with a last minute tally. Brayden Moar would put BWC Academy back in the equation, netting the second’s lone goal. Brody Shilton restored OHA’s lead late in the third but a shorthanded marker from Michael Stewart was enough to force overtime. After OT solved nothing, a shootout that would go on to span five rounds would decide our winner. Jacob Napoleon’s shootout goal would be the deciding factor, completing BWC Academy’s late comeback.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep

Following a scoreless first, Bronsyn Mouille (1G, 1A) would strike on the powerplay to break the ice for NAX. Asher Halliday would double NAX’s lead before the buzzer sounded for the second intermission. In the latter half of the third, Kutcher Aquila (2G) would get SAHA on the board. However, Nolan Phare would respond almost instantly to restore NAX’s two goal cushion. Phare’s goal would prove vital as Aquila would go on the score once more for SAHA. In the late stages, Cam Hoose (41/43) would hold on in the crease, making a grand total of 41-saves in the close cut win for the Xtreme.

Calgary International Hockey Academy (8) vs Notre Dame (0) U15

CIHA outshot Notre Dame 59-11 en route to an 8-0 win. Alexandre Montembeault (11/11) made just 11 saves to record his third shutout of the season for CIHA. Tomas Figura (2G, 1A), Liam Nycholat (2G, 1A) and Eric Sexton (2G) all scored twice, with Owen Light (1G, 2A) and Kale Okubo scoring once. Santiago Schyns-Munoz (51/59) faced 59 shots in net for Notre Dame.Ìý

Bourget College (2) vs Stanstead College (6) East U18

Cape Breton Eagles prospect Mathys Morrissette got the ball rolling early with a snipe down the right wing to give Bourget College an early lead on Sunday’s Featured Game. Bourget would keep applying the pressure, giving Stanstead little room to operate in the opening twenty. However, Stanstead would find their groove in the second after David Deschatelets scored in close on a move to his backhand. Kamyl Chemrouk (2G) would later wire one home to give Stanstead the outright lead. Maxemile Richard was able to tie things up with a nifty play in close quarters but a rapid response from Oliver Plante restored Stanstaead’s advantage. To close the frame, Dylan Orr’s (1G, 1A) point shot would get through in the final second of play, doubling Stanstead’s lead before the ice clean. Chemrouk would add to Stanstead’s lead early in the third, putting this game to rest. Jacob LeBlanc (25/27) blanked Bourget in the third, making a grand total of 25-saves across sixty minutes in the victory.Ìý

St. George’s School (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) U15

A high scoring first period saw Luca Rogers (2G, 1A) tally his 15th and 16th goals of the season for St. George’s, while Jake Gates (3G, 1A) replied with two of his own to go alongside Hudson Wicharuk’s seventh of the year as OHA led 3-2 after 20. Nick Hill (1G, 2A) tied the game 1:30 into the second but Nathan Tan (1G, 2A) put OHA back on top 26 seconds later. Jace Williams (1G, 2A) doubled the lead midway through the period as OHA led 5-3. Minsoo Lee scored 1:17 into the third and Hudson Lesk tied the game on the power play with 4:03 remaining. Locked at 5-5 late in the game, Gates completed the hat-trick, giving OHA the game winning goal with 2:18 left to play. Deakon Beaudry (17/22) and Jonah Gamble (40/46) were in net for their respective teams.Ìý

Delta Hockey Academy White (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) U15

Having suffered a 9-1 defeat to Delta White the day before, Pacific Coast showed some fight on Sunday, opening up to a 3-0 lead on goals from Liam Hussey, Brayden Lindsay and Callan McCall. Colby Walker halted the PCHA run with a shorthanded goal in the closing minutes of the first. After a scoreless second, Caden Sugiyama hit double digit goals on the season midway through the third to increase the Pacific Coast advantage to 4-1. Jayden Ni responded with his 36th of the year but an empty net, shorthanded goal by Kaz Westcott with 1:31 remaining secured the PCHA victory. Shay Van Slyke (29/31) was credited with the win and Aarun Parmar (48/52) with the loss.Ìý

Kuper Academy (0) vs Stanstead College (6) East U17

After a scoreless first period Jack Adams (1G, 2A) scored the eventual game winner 4:33 into the second while on the power play. Zsombor Galambos and Hubert Melancon added second period goals as Stanstead took a 3-0 lead into the second intermission. It was the same story in the third period as Emanuel Ganz (2G) scored twice and Eelis Lehtoranta (1G, 1A) once as Stanstead took home the 6-0 win. Gabriel Poitras (24/24) made 24 saves for his first career shutout.Ìý

Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) vs Edge School (5) U17 Prep

Izayah Zaharko opened the scoring for Edge but Aedan McCarry (2G) scored twice 2:15 apart to give CIHA the lead. Owen Wiemer (1G, 2A) levelled the score heading into the second with his eighth of the season. Edge would grab a 4-2 lead early in the second as Reeve Waugh and Charlie Tobin (2G) scored four minutes apart. Jacob Balaberda would get a late power play goal to bring CIHA within one heading into the final period. In the third Chad Clark tied the game with 6:16 remaining. However, as an affiliate from their U15 Prep team, Tobin would make his presence felt at the U17 Prep level, scoring the game winner for Edge with 3:21 remaining. Adam Courchesne (33/37) was credited with the win for Edge School.Ìý

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep

Backed by three power play goals, Yale scored twice in the first and twice again in the second to take a 4-0 lead into the third. Maxx Trites and Macguire Newman (1G, 1A) scored in the first with Gavin Selinger (1G, 1A) and Adrien Comeau (1G, 3A) adding power play goals in the second. Seth Castronuovo (2G, 1A) added his 28th of the year 3:46 into the third as Yale held a commanding 5-0 lead. Shawnigan began to wake up in the third as Case Bartley (3G) scored twice in 50 seconds before completing the natural hat-trick a few minutes later. With Yale’s massive lead evaporating and their backs against the wall, Castronuovo gave his team breathing room with a late empty netter, securing the win. Jason Ho (26/29) made 26 saves, including 15 in the third, for the win.ÌýÌý

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (1) U15

Mykah Cormier (1G, 1A) opened the scoring 1:35 in as he scored his 13th of the year for Yale. Connor Baines doubled the lead 15:29 into the game, finding the back of the net for the 21st time. Jesse Parmar scored the lone second period goal as Delta Black cut the deficit in half heading into the third. Defenseman Lukas Stevens (1G, 1A) gave Yale some extra comfort 5:41 into the third as Yale grabbed a 3-1 lead. Lucca Tassone (46/47) was perfect through the last 20, securing the victory. Brayden Allan (26/29) was charged with the loss.Ìý

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (6) U18 Prep

A power play goal by Owen Bambrick gave CDA the initial lead 2:38 in but affiliate Aaron Castro tied the game less than five minutes later with his first at the U18 Prep level. Sam Auld (1G, 1A) got St. George’s their first lead 1:34 into the second with his 16th of the year. Ian Dalton tied the game a few minutes later, but Harshaan Kaila (2G, 1A) replied for St. George’s just 14 seconds after that. Minsuk Hou and Kaila added goals to close out the second as they increased their lead to 5-2 heading into the third. Charlie Weaver extended the advantage just 1:06 into the third with his 12th of the season. Carter Kipp would get one back for CDA late in the period but Austin Ball (30/33) ultimately finished with 30 saves to give St. George’s the win. 2024 WHL Draft second overall pick Brock Cripps (4A) had four assists in the win.Ìý

OHA Edmonton (2/SO) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first period, River Arnason stripped an OHA Edmonton defender behind the net and fed Carter Haney outfront who made no mistake, roofing the puck over the right shoulder of Parker Snell (45/46) to give RHA Winnipeg a 1-0 lead. Ben Shaw would tie the game in later in the period, picking up a rebound in front and burying the puck into the empty net past Quinn Burfoot (39/40). After a scoreless third and overtime, the game would head to a shootout where Brady Disley scored in the 10th round to give OHA Edmonton the 2-1 win.Ìý

STAR Hockey Academy (7) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U15

Nicholas Sheldon scored just 19 seconds in but Camden Freeman countered for STAR 57 seconds later and Eli Solberg (1G, 1A) gave them the lead heading into the second. ET Kennedy (1G, 2A) doubled the lead before Keegan Hole and Olan Ward (2G, 2A) traded goals in the final minutes of the second. Daniel Trifunovic made it 5-2 6:34 into the third with his eighth of the season. Defenseman Cohen Waite (2G, 1A) gave North Shore life, scoring twice in a span of 24 seconds to make it a one goal game. But that was as close as they would get as Ward and Seve Paladino scored in the final two minutes to clinch the 7-4 STAR win.Ìý

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs BWC Academy (7) U15 Prep

Justin Moon (2G, 2A) opened the scoring for BWC Academy 7:21 in with his 18th of the season. RHA Kelowna countered as Jack Leslie (1G, 1A) scored 1:21 after that and Cole Dobson gave them the lead 1:14 later. Elias Papadatos (1G, 1A) evened the score heading into the second period where Jackson Beggs (1G, 2A) found the back of the net 1:13 in to give BWC Academy the lead again. Bronson Lamontagne (2G) replied for RHA Kelowna 1:09 later. Moon and Lamontagne traded goals 1:08 apart as the two teams continued the back and forth play. Kenzo Gibson (1G, 3A) tallied a shorthanded marker 1:34 later to restore the BWC Academy lead going into the final frame. In the third Kane Nicholas (2G, 3A) doubled the lead 6:13 into the period. Carter Bell (1G, 1A) made it a one goal game but Nicholas countered for BWC Academy 1:01 later. Bentley Edgar (51/56) and Dylan Mingo (17/24) were in net for their respective teams.Ìý

North Shore Warriors (0) vs BWC Academy (2) U17 Prep

Jeevin Sandhu (42/42) and Ethan Suhr (38/39) kept clean sheets for the first 44 minutes of the game before Zephyr Harms beat Suhr for his sixth of the season for BWC Academy. Neither goalie would be beaten again as Oleksii Zhekov added an empty netter to secure the 2-0 BWC Academy win.Ìý

Fairmont Hockey (0) vs Ulysse Academie (2) East U18

Both goalies brought their ‘A’ games as they combined to stop 46 of the 47 shots they faced. Leonidas Barkoulas (20/20) stopped all 20 shots he faced, besting Beckham Brossard (26/27) by one save as Ulysse beat Fairmont 2-0. After 40 minutes of scoreless action, Zack Bernique scored the game winner 1:39 into the third period. Lucas Loiacono added an empty netter with 1:31 remaining to clinch the Ulysse victory.Ìý

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs St. George’s School (5) U15 Prep

St. George’s did all of their damage in the first as Adam Benn (1G, 1A), Logan Okamura (1G, 1A), Tarik Lammam, Louis Oscar Holowaychuk (1G, 1A) and Braddey Ching found the back of the net in the opening 20 to take a commanding 5-0 lead. Pacific Coast weathered the storm in the second as Dane Dyer scored a power play goal in the second to end the St. George’s run. Neither team would find the back of the net again as the game ended 5-1 in favour of the home squad. Joffrey Chan (23/24) made 23 saves for his eighth win of the year. Rio Manhas (59/64) made 38 saves in the final two periods after letting in five goals in the opening 20.Ìý

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Defenseman Vincent Croteau (2G) scored back-to-back power play goals 1:50 apart in the first 5:21 of the game to give Shawnigan an early 2-0 lead. Matthew Dowdall (2G) countered for Yale with a power play goal of his own 1:06 later. Jacob Dumansky (2G) tied the game midway through the period with the first even strength goal of the game. Dowdall gave Yale their first lead 13:48 into the second period. The Yale power play continued to click in the third as Gus Schill and Dumansky scored goals on the man advantage, giving Yale five unanswered goals in a 5-2 win. Nathan Kam (29/31) and Will Stonehouse (36/41) were in net for their respective teams. Jayden Oleskiw (4A) had four assists in the win.Ìý

Calgary International Hockey Academy (1) vs Edge School (5) U18 Prep

Dallin Antos (1G, 1A) scored on the power play and Keegan De Sa (1G, 1A) even strength as Edge led 2-0 after 20. Cage Smith cut into the lead with the lone goal in the second, midway through the period. Brock England restored the two goal cushion 1:28 into the third. Jeff Niehaus got in on the action midway through the period with his eighth of the season. Trailing by three, CIHA would find themselves on the power play and pull their goal to go 6-on-4. Edge would take advantage of the empty net as Mirco Dufour (1G, 2A) scored a shorthanded empty net goal to clinch the win just midway through third.Ìý

Shawnigan Lake School (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy (8) U15 Prep

Tripp Fischer (3G, 1A) recorded a hat-trick, Peter Banicevic (4A) had four assists and Brady Cyr (2G, 2A) had two goals and two helpers to tie for the team lead as Delta beat Shawnigan 8-0. Quinn Coupland (20/20) made 20 saves for his second shutout of the season. Forward Colton Brum (1G, 2A) and defenseman Eli Vickers (3A) chipped in with three points in the win.Ìý

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4/OT) U17 Prep

OHA opened the scoring with 10 seconds left in the first when Trey Tourigny (3G) went post and in on Asher Netherton (37/41). Tourigny added to the lead 2:25 into the second, scoring his 15th of the season. Logan Lanti got RHA Kelowna on the board with 27 seconds left in the second, scoring a shorthanded marker. Joshua Johnstone and Brody Bradshaw scored 29 seconds apart early in the second as RHA Kelowna quickly erased a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead. Tourigny would continue to carry the OHA offence, completing the hat-trick and tying the game with 3:29 left. In overtime, a beautiful saucer pass from David Aggen sent Luke Assi (1G, 3A) in on a partial break where he made no mistake, beating Netherton with a move to his blocker side. Linden Sobocan (40/43) made 40 saves to record the win.Ìý

Edge School (6) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (2) Female U18 Prep

Callie Paull (2G) scored her first goal of the season 12:12 in on the power play as Edge grabbed a 1-0 lead. Lila Deis (1G, 1A) doubled the lead 3:25 later, giving her team a 2-0 advantage going into the second. Sawyer Mackay (2G) got NAX on the board with a power play marker 1:32 into the second. Paull replied with another power play goal of her own and Olivia Imperato made it 4-1 Edge with 54 seconds left in the period. Mackay added another NAX power play goal inside the first two minutes of a period, this time, 1:42 into the third. But Edge responded with goals from Sara Hettle and Abby Lee (1G, 2A) 2:20 apart as the visitors left town with a 6-2 win. Alexis Ehrman (22/24) and Sophie Quaschnick (31/37) were in net for their respective teams.Ìý
